1 month old
We are still working on him sleeping. He is more like his dad in that if anything is going on he won't sleep. This usually results in a very cranky Parker. He will only fall asleep after being rocked until long past the point that your arms feel ready to fall off. Many times either Mom or Dad fall asleep in the quest to put him to sleep. During the day he stays asleep for about 30 minutes. At night he sleep for 1-2 hours at a time.
Parker is REALLY good at two things eating and messing his diaper.
If he had his way he would eat 24/7. He sometimes will go more than 2 hours between feedings, but usually wants to eat every 1 1/2 hours. Luckily He is my only responsibility so I can devote all of my time to his growing body.
I joke that he has a chronic dirty diaper. I doesn't matter when it is changed he will mess it minutes later. He even decided to go once while I way changing him. I've learned to look out for the fire house, but the blow hole was a new adventure.

Parker seems to have two volumes - - content and quiet or WAWAWAWAWA at the top of his lungs. There isn't much in between those.
We have gotten some great smiles out of him, and even some cute squeaks. He has even laughed a few times. I can't wait until these are stimulated, and not just a coincidence.
We have made it one month. I don't know what is a better feat that we've survived or him. Although we still have a lot to learn we haven't completely failed at this quest to be half way decent parents.

Do not worry, you are not alone. All my other friends that have newborns right now all seem to say the same thing. Apparently being a parent of a newborn means living in survival mode for the first 2 months. You have given me a pretty good idea of what I am in for. It makes me a little nervous haha.
Wow!!! I have to give you a TON of credit!! 1-2hrs sleep ... I thought 3-4 hrs was hard...and taking a 1-2 hr nap twice a day seemed a wonderful relief for me .. I stand and applaud you and your husband...you're doing a great job on very little sleep! He is adorable and the smile is fantastic for sure...(how much does he eat at each feeding?) Good luck..things will get better soon and there once again will be sleep in your household =)
I know how you feel! Even though everyone warned me to enjoy my sleep before the baby came, being a mommy is so much more demanding than I thought. I just keep thinking of this country song that talks about bringing their newborn home and says "it won't be like this for long" and how she's going to grow up so fast. Luckily this stage doesn't last forever!
Welcome to parenthood! It gets better, I promise. As you grow into each other, life becomes easier and routine. Everyday he will get bigger and be able to do new things. Even though you are sleep-deprived and trying to figure things out - try to enjoy everyday. he will never be that small again. Each stage of development is precious, fun and challenging in its own way. He looks like a very healthy, fun and happy baby. Congrats!
I hate to be the mom that recommends things like books or whatever, but I was sooo saved by the book Babywise and if it might help you, yay!! It totally saved my sanity...no joke! Hope you start getting more sleep regardless!
Yea thanks for posting more pictures, I love his little smile. It is so great that my boys have a cousin.
